The village of Mindo lies on the Pacific slopes
of the Ecuadorian Andes. It is becoming an important ecotourism destination
because of easy access to large tracts of primary cloudforest that
still survive in spite of the rampant deforestation which has devastated
most of Western Ecuador.
The Pacific Andean slopes are home to a wide variety of frog species, many of them poorly known. The calls of many of these species, particularly the Eleutherodactylus, have never been documented previously and this CD now represents a valuable starting point for biologists conducting field surveys of frogs in this region.

| Newly updated, Frogs of Mindo Version 2 comprises
18 minutes of sound recordings of 27 frog species. All were recorded
in the vicinity of Mindo between elevations of 1,000 and 2,200m. This CD
replaces Version 1, includes 10 more species, with more concise identifications
and some errors have been corrected. A booklet of colour photos illustrates
20 species.
